We are blessed here at Faith Lutheran Church with a group of folks who have labored in the church for many years. They keep busy! They continue to serve God by rolling bandages, they enjoy each other’s company by playing games together, they meet once a month for Coffee With Pastor.
Some of the women meet once a month for Daytime Disciples.
These folks are an inspiration. Whether sharing an Ole and Lena joke, pictures of the grandkids or discussing the latest test result.
Twice a month these folks gather to roll bandages. This started as a one time opportunity to help out hospitals in Africa. It’s been happening for about 10 years now! That’s a lot of bandages. Old hotel sheets receive new life as bandages. And it provides a time of fellowship.
Prayer shawls and card ministries are another area that these folks direct. When a member is hospitalized...when a baby is baptized...a prayer shawl is given as a physical reminder of this congregations concern. Cards are also mailed out for various reasons as a reminder that this congregation takes seriously our life together.
Fellowship is an important as a way to stay connected. We meet for “lunch bunch” Coffee With Pastor, take a day-bus trip once a year, celebrate Christmas with a party, and enjoy a potluck each summer complete with home made ice cream!
Daytime Disciples meet each month to study the ELCA Women’s Bible Study.
Anyone who feels like they would like to participate in these activities is welcome to join us. The schedule of events is posted in the Seed.
Blessed are you, O Lord, maker of heaven and earth. From everlasting you are God, our dwelling place in all generations. You are the source of holy wisdom, and the fountain of all truth. We give thanks to you for the elders among us. We are graced by their wisdom and seasoning. We are touched by their knowledge and faith. Bless them, O God, as they are a blessing to us. Pour out your Spirit, that our elders may continue to dream dreams and testify to the Light of their salvation, Jesus Christ. May we find inspiration in their years of faithfulness. May we follow their example by serving you with steadfastness and singleness of heart; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen. (Evangelical Lutheran Worship)
Peace,
Pastor John Albertson
