Martin Luther loved children. He played with them, sang with them, wrote the Small Catechism for them, and recited it with them. He loved to be at home, surrounded by his family.
Speaking about children he said, “They are the best wool on the sheep.” I agree with Luther. My own Son Leif brings me much joy!
We are blessed with children here at Faith. Regularly I receive cards and letters from the kids at church. Drawings on the back of pew cards or pictures drawn in crayon are some of my prize possessions.
Youth Ministry has always been valued. I have been privileged to serve with Stephanie Thompson, Joyce Mininger and Tiffany Fay. They did an excellent job in leading our Middle School and High School youth in matters of faith and life.
Change is in the air!
After a lot of conversation, discernment and prayer it is evident that change is necessary. Therefore, we would like to expand the Youth Minister position to The Director of Youth and Family Ministry. This position will have charge of children of all ages and be able to incorporate all generations in a life long community of faith. We believe that this new position is the best way to bring this change to fruition.
Someone once said, “Youth and family ministry is a holistic and intergenerational approach to ministry. It is primarily not about children, youth, or families. It is primarily about Jesus. It is about discipleship and passing on the faith.
Will you join me? Will you support this opportunity prayerfully, financially?
Let’s make it happen!
Peace,
Pastor John
