Choir Director Position
The Faith Lutheran Choir is a group of committed singers who like to sing and gain spiritual nourishment through music as well as share their musical gifts through their participation in worship services. The choir director will guide this group of musicians to enhance the musical experience of worship at Faith Lutheran Church.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
Work with the Pastor for appropriate music selections for the ELCA church seasons.
Prepare for music selections through reading the lessons for the Sundays of the church year.
Plan and conduct rehearsals.
Schedule music to be performed on a regular basis as well as on these special church services: Reformation Sunday, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Christmas Eve.
Work cooperatively with the accompanists, other musicians, ensembles, and Faith Lutheran staff.
Have strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
TIME COMMITMENT:
This position is part time from August to May. Hours include:
Preparation time for music selection and rehearsals
Availability to meet with the Pastor
Planning time for rehearsals
Rehearsal time
Availability to meet with members of the Worship Committee when it is planning special services
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge of choral music
Ability to work cooperatively with the Pastor, other staff, and musicians
Familiarity with or willingness to learn ELCA Lutheran worship practices, including an understanding of the liturgical calendar and seasons

COMPENSATION:
A $5000 salary is available, $500 to be paid monthly
